Tesla does it again... scores 103 out of 100
"The Tesla Model S P85D, all-wheel-drive electric sedan
performed “better in our tests than any other car ever has, earning a perfect road-test score.”
Actually, it did better than that, scoring 103 points in a scoring system that, “by definition,” doesn’t go past 100.

Tesla Stock (after the crash) still at $245.00

I don't see what the big deal is
There's a lot of amazing stuff out there for rich people with disposable income.
The S model is just one of those things

Tesla will really take off when they start making practical cars, and that's coming.

Which is an interesting case of "what to produce first - high end or low end?"93henfan wrote:Tesla will really take off when they start making practical cars, and that's coming.
If Kia or Hyundai came out with a luxury sports car, would anyone take it serious from day 1?

High end first works way better. People scoop up the low-end models from M-B, BMW, Land Rover, etc.CAA Flagship wrote:Which is an interesting case of "what to produce first - high end or low end?"93henfan wrote:Tesla will really take off when they start making practical cars, and that's coming.

But when it goes the other way it's often a flop. See VW Phaeton. It was an excellent car, and they sold about 23 of them in the US.

But the X won't be nearly as nice and it's dials won't go to 11

Love me some Regular Car Guy reviews. He just did the 2004 Phaeton. And works in references to Caitlyn Jenner, Tesla, Starbucks, and bi-curious women in Brazil!

I didn't even know it existed.
The first problem is the name. If I don't know how to pronounce it, I move on to something else.

And they've even got the mileage up to 452 miles on a charge! You just have to drive 25 mph!

The article gushes over the rating and mainly talks about speed and acceleration…why should I care about that?
How much are you paying for it between financing and insurance and maintenance and replacing/fixing parts that may be hard to find? How reliable is it?

An electric car is CR's wet dream. The only thing that could top it is a Japanese version.Pwns wrote:The article gushes over the rating and mainly talks about speed and acceleration…why should I care about that?

Aren't they making a $30,000 model?

In theory. It'll be $50k with a few options and the market adjustments that will get slapped on it.Ibanez wrote:Aren't they making a $30,000 model?

Is that serious? You can drive 452.8 miles if you drive at 25 miles per hour? Is that supposed to seriously be like a positive thing?Of course, the car isn’t perfect, says the report. Its 200-plus mile range can be a concern on a long drive if a charging station isn’t nearby. (Consumer Reports clearly hasn’t heard of Bjørn Nyland, a programmer who recently drove 452.8 miles on a single charge in a P85D by cruising at 25 miles per hour.)

Neither Tesla nor CR brought it up, so no.JohnStOnge wrote:Is that serious? You can drive 452.8 miles if you drive at 25 miles per hour? You can probably go 452.8 miles in an H2 if you go 25 mph too.
