A lot of interesting dynamic behind the scenes of EVs.
Thanks for this perspective. I’ve never considered that

I was just using $55K as a quick figure on Tesla's available today. You're going even higher, so I'm not sure you're helping your argument here. They're very expensive cars for what you get. That was my point. If you just want to rip a fast time at the 1/4 mile strip with a $55K production car, you'd go buy a Corvette Stingray and trounce a Tesla 3 rwd. (11.8 secs vs 13.3)
Except that you don’t put gas in the Tesla like you do the Vette

And as a bonus, you probably don’t look like a tracksuit choad on Viagra when you drive the Tesla

Like you do in the Vette

At the average U.S. electricity price of 12.9 cents per kilowatt-hour
It cost $9.68 to fully recharge a Tesla Model S with a 275-mile battery

:coffee:

That's not financially compelling enough to buy an electric vehicle
You can also "slow charge" which reduces voltage pull and is actually the preferred home charging method

For $25k. And reliable. Winning.

Personally speaking, I like the 3 sedan a lot better than the hatch. It's really hard to beat the Golf for an economical hatch.

Mazdas are awesome. The utility of a good hatch is hard to beat. Just need a 4wd.

Agree about the Mazda 3 reliability. I just hit 78k and have had zero issues.

That said the new hatchback looks totally ghey.

This new model comes with available AWD, both in sedan and hatchback form.

Also CID, I'm not seeing the Maserati comparison at all. In what way does the 3 look like a Ghibli, other than having four doors and being offered in gray?

Dude

thanks for posting pics

Theres a Mazda design engineer right now- getting ribbed by his buddies for being a Maserati bitch

Im not knocking the car - if i were in the market right now it would be on my list... but I live in a neighborhood of crazy rich asians and half if them have the Maserati- and that Mazda is shaped intentionally like it

frankly, its perfect.... you can buy it responsibly and when your progressive friends scold you, you can say “NO IM NOT A PART OF THE BOURGEOISIE LANDLORD CLASS... its a Mazda!”

I'm into cars enough that I read articles, message boards, and follow certain communities.

I mean to each their own, but you're the only person I've come across that links the design to a Maserati. At least for the hatchback, the Alfa Romeo Brera is the most made comparison:

I've never liked Maseratis. They're unreliable, overpriced, and frankly, not that great performance-wise. Sure, for $130K you're going to get a fast car, but you can get a sexier, faster, better performing car for $130K. At their price points, there are at least ten other cars I'd pick before any of their models.

However, I do agree with CID that the lines in many places of the new 3 sedan are borrowing cues from the Ghibli. Just about every carmaker does that though. And it looks great. That 3 sedan is a perfect car at $25K. And AWD too -- bonus.

You want to know how guys like you and me get laid with chicks who look like Kate? (Because for every #metoo hag out there, there are still 50 women just as crass and shallow as you and me)

Hint: it isnt because of driving the Mazda 3

Another hint: chicks care about ONE performance metric and ONE only ..... the price you paid

While we're on cars, I was at the local BMW dealer yesterday to pick up a part. They had a 2019 M2 Competition on the showroom floor rolling it outside. A purchaser from NY had come down to buy it - for almost $70K. When they fired that thing up, it sounded like a damn Ferrari in open valve mode. Dear Lord, what a glorious sound from an I6 turbo engine! I didn't think a turbo-muffled engine could sound that good.

No shit Sherlock. That's a JSO level of word usage for saying basically nothing.

Also, terrible reading comprehension. I said if you're paying $130K, there are ten other $130K cars I'd buy before a Maserati, because Maserati's are shit.

Let me know if there's anything else you'd like for me to explain for you.

$130k for a car to get laid?

For $5k I can get round-trip tickets to Las Vegas, a hotel room, meals, and rent two chicks at a brothel for an hour.

If I'm paying $130k for a car it had better be amphibious and fly like Doc Brown's Delorian.
