Allowing them to restrict air travel of their competition as they see fit

Well knowing that the days of net neutrality are numbered (at least for now), I saw the image below on a different message board; it's a from Portugal where there's no net neutrality:

Thanks Trump.

No one should be happy about this unless you are an ISP.

Which means 95% of Americans will be screwed.

The silence from the Republicans on this is actually terrifying...

The idea that a Federal Entity can appoint a private entity
to run every single aspect of the citizen owned Broadband infrastructure is completely insane

It's bad on so many levels it's staggering

Free market, baby!

Let's sell all the lanes lanes of I-90. TSP's (transportation service providers) can charge tolls and constrict traffic in the best interest of their customers.

It's as mathematically far as you can get from a free market
In fact it is quite literally THE EXACT OPPOSITE of a free market

It's so mind boggling I struggle to believe it's actually happening
it's probably the single most anti-American business maneuver I've personally ever witnessed

ISP providers say net-neutrality limits their ability to invest in their infrastructure, especially in rural areas. Personally, I doubt they'll make the investment whether net-neutrality is gone or around...especially since construction of new cables are already subsidized and there's no meaningful progress.

I say that if people want a great infrastructure project that will pay itself off quickly and for generations to come, connect the entire United States via high-speed internet. Hire ISPs to be caretakers of the utility, but since the taxpayers paid for the infrastructure, they'd have to keep it neutral. Treat it exactly like a utility...where fees maintain the infrastructure, pay for employees and day-to-day operations, and make a small profit for the ISPs.

And if people want even faster internet, the ISPs can continue building their own private networks that people can pay for in addition to having a baseline high-speed internet utility.

Let's be real here: the future IS the internet. Like the highway interstate system spurred powerful economic growth, an efficiently connected United States will do the same. So let's publicly invest in it.

That's because you're completely uninformed (yet) allowed to have an opinion...
One huge example:
Comcast restricted Netflix bandwidth in order to force Netflix to negotiate with them
In short: Comcast restricted bandwidth of a competitor
on an infrastructure they do NOT own

And yes:
Sadly Government enforced Net Neutrality is indeed free market
It's unfortunate but it's the only way it will work at this stage
as we have allowed broadband companies to monopolize and consolidate beyond extreme...

Example:
If there was only one way to get electricity to your house
wouldn't you want to make sure that one company was being watched ..?
Or would you like them to charge you as much as the felt like to extort higher prices..?

Sounds like a free market to me!
They hand pick markets for assorted "competition" this appeases the judicial branch in regards to monopoly
and they eliminate serious competitive threats through legislation

It's been a text book extortion of the American people
and still we have those who defend them

At some point smart young people will find the home addresses of Comcast execs and publish them. After that it will be a simple matter to kidap their children and send parts of them home until Comcast starts acting right. :thumb:

Network investment is down, layoffs abound, and networks are falling apart. This isn’t the glorious future Ajit Pai promised.
