Honest question - do you really think that people will go to work on CCC or WPA type projects? We didn't even make people on welfare do that prior to the pandemic. There's no way in hell a person that worked an inside retail or office job is going to go be a ditch digger without some work requirement. And there's no way Congress would ever pass a work requirement because it will be racist/sexist/homophobic/etc.
I’m not saying it will happen but it should. I find it similar to “Americans won’t pick fruit in the fields argument”. If you cut off their P.A. and they get hungry or it threatens their streaming service...they will.

Kalm...out conking the conks....

How are you out conking anyone? :suspicious: I doubt if you could find any conks on here that disagree with making welfare recipients work.

See, we have a completely different view of safe. IMO, Safe is if the death rate and case numbers is declining over a certain period of time, similar to what the government has set down for it's recommendations, as in a gradual reopening versus a no-limit, wild west, open the barn doors type.
Well this has boiled down to "saving lives". And technically, no life is "safe" until we have a vaccine. These lock downs keep getting extended a few weeks at a time. What exactly is changing, wrt to being "safe", over those few weeks until we have a vaccine?
Less cases and less deaths is what's changing from what I see. Minnesota is starting to peak. My step-son is quarantined with a soar throat today. A few of his co-workers tested positive.

No, if someone put 100 cookies on a table and said 2 are poison and will kill you, I would not take a cookie. I don't think COVID-19 is at .02 percent though.

So you are supporting a $15-$20 minimum wage?
I'm supporting people being allowed to make a living. Not really that difficult to understand. And if they're good, they'll make a lot more than $15 or $20 an hour. No need to pay pimple-faced teenaged burger flippers $15.
Just confirmed you are detached from economic reality

LMAO that anyone thinks Obama was a failure, especially a Cult45er like you.
I'm hardly a cultist, and yes Obama was a massive failure, especially considering the opportunity that was presented to him as the first black president.
How was he a failure? Coming from someone that thinks Trump is a genius, this ought to be good.

So you are asking him to do MORE because he is black?

food is more expensive, spending money on sanitizers, masks, etc. Somewhat offset by lower gas prices
:suspicious: Not sure why food is more expensive, I'm not seeing that here. In fact, I'm saving tons of money during this thing.
At least here, Meat prices have gone up. Some other basic staples as well. We didn't eat out a lot (and I do all the shopping)

I voted support with safety protocols in place but I think it's a very difficult situation. If that's done and it backfires the economic damage over the longer term may be greater than the economic damage done by remaining very strict until effective treatments and/or vaccines are developed.

I voted the way I did because I know that's how I'd feel if I were NOT financially secure. For me personally the biggest inconvenience is that I can't get a haircut. My job is actually better now because I get to spend more time on abstract "scientific" stuff because I don't have to spend any time on the other day to day stuff that's not really interesting.

Well, also I didn't get to do any Spring fishing at Lacassine Refuge. I could've gone but decided not to take any long road trips because I know Louisiana's first responders would prefer that people don't do that at this time. That kind of sucked.

Reopen and retained. As I was talking about in another thread, if we can manage not to kill everyone in America who has a compromised immune system without shutting down, then we should be able to protect the COVID susceptible with the same precautions.

Sorry, but that is just NOT a long term tenable solution.

Please find the quote where I ever said Trump was a genius. Meanwhile, I’ll go copy the hundred or so posts where I say he’s a dipshit. But, like a good liberal, you’ll never let facts get in the way of a good rant.

No, if someone put 100 cookies on a table and said 2 are poison and will kill you, I would not take a cookie. I don't think COVID-19 is at .02 percent though.
It is if 150,000,000 already have it or have had it. And that’s what just about every large-scale study is showing.

He asked .02%, not 2%..

.02% would be 1 cookie out of 5,000...

2 of 100 cookies would be 2%.
2 of 1,000 cookies would be .2%
2 of 10,000 cookies would be .02%

My bad, but the question is still similar, would you eat a cookie if you knew 1 out of 5000 was poison, and would kill you?

Wha? :suspicious:

If you're spending less, then your bills are lower. One $200 charge for groceries is less than 3 x $75. I assume it's all going on a card that you pay once month, no?
Good catch, I meant the grocery bill. Instead of spending money on groceries, and multiple restaurants a week. We're saving a couple hundred by not eating out as much.
