Re: Should Portland State drop football?
No. Football and Basketball ARE the marketing arms of any university. Stupid question, but then I see you are a Tom Cruise fan, makes sense. Yeah and they're marketing futiliy, underachievement and poor decision-making. Jerry Glanville? You're describing about half the programs in FCS. So why...

Re: EWU vs SFA game thread
So the NCAA's stats must have just been updated because in total offense the numbers are still SFA #3 and EWU #4, but in total defense SFA is now #32 and EWU is #109. In scoring offense, SFA is #1 at 37.18 ppg, and EWU is 9th at 33.74. However, you have to factor in SFA's 92-0 win over NAIA Texas Co...

BTW, since Slycat is acting as surrogate for SFA and I don't recall any SFA posters on CS, anyone know the way to their message board?

Re: EWU vs SFA game thread
Tough game to predict. Both teams have strong offenses. I'll give the edge to the Jacks as they have seen their fair share of high caliber offense this season and pulled out wins. SFA - 38 EWU- 31 If EWU hadn't lost their NFL-caliber receiver, I'd say EWU by 28. But because they did, I'll say EWU b...

Re: EWU vs SFA game thread
SFA's offense and qb are very productive and our defense has given up a ton of yardage the last two weeks albeit against 2 very good offenses (SUU and NAU). I'm also concerned about injuries as we looked to be getting pretty banged up at the end of the game yesterday. EWU has a better turnover margi...

Re: FINAL LOOK AT THE PAYTON/BUCHANAN AWARDS WATCH
It looks like you place a high premium in sacks and tackles for loss.
I would put the nations leader in tackles J.C. Sherrit ahead of Legree. One of Sherritt's team mates, Matt Johnson, has relatively the same numbers as Legree.

Re: Teams Being Considered for Playoffs
There is also a chance that Weber gets taken over EWU thanks to head to head, and Weber didn't schedule a D2. In addition, Weber finished 2nd in the Big Sky. I would love to see the BSC as a 3 bid conference..I just think EWU should be a little more wary than they are. I agree with Weber being take...

We can do it! I will be at softball, but will be online via iPhone It's funny to read about softball in November when the snow is coming down sideways outside my window. Re: BSC - A three bid conference?
Uh, Kalm, do you really know whether or not Colgate et al are the duckers or the duckees? As we all know from watching the frustrations of Boise, sometimes SOS isn't as easy as it sounds.... GPI, final rankings, history, all suggest they are duckees. Strength of conference is also a clincher with l...

Re: Cinderella Season for EWU
EWU has definitely overcome adversity, but to call a "Cinderella season" for a team that has had a winning record 10 out of the last 11 years (plus two QF appearances) is a bit of a stretch. I kinda agree with this statement. A cinderella season would include 4 more wins. But take it easy...

Re: Big Sky Blog: We Deserve Three
 Having now watched all of them play, I will submit that the top 5 teams are very equal from a standpoint of talent. If you think about it none of these teams really had a bad loss. The difference for Montana is depth, home field advantage, and winning tradition. Montana State and NAU are both ...

Re: Weber State postseason ban til 2012!!!!
I'm guessing it's not a matter of choosing to not back football. It's more probably that the money simply isn't there. EWU experienced something like a 20% cut across the board and there was a statewide hiring freeze for universities for the first 6 months of this year. so is it really bad at ewu r...

Re: Weber State postseason ban til 2012!!!!
Funny thing is WSU's bookstore sold BAck Mac shirts the first couple year's he was here yet they school won't back him. They still won't give him any money for recruiting to compete with the Montanas. WSU is the definition of a true shoe-string budget. Maybe they can let Mac decide what will happen...

... If the Lumberjacks play at home like they played earlier in the season against Montana, the Eagles will have a rough day. If NAU stays true to form and craps out in traditional end-of-season fashion, the Eagles could have a field day. May the best team win. Um, we had 354 through the air agains...

Re: 2009 Brawl of the Wild
Both teams' running games should struggle, but Montana has the better passing attack and MSU's pass defense is slightly more vulnerable. That and the return game should make the difference for the Griz.  My thoughts exactly. And I was very impressed with both team's tight ends - they had...
