Re: Federal judge rules denial of health coverage to same-sex sp
If the law is unconstitutional, the judge's responsibility is to rule as such. sorry Jon, you're wrong. A judge's responsibility is to render judgements based on CURRENT law and Constitution. His job is not to rule anything "unconstitutional". That's the US Supreme Court's job. It's the l...

He also expressed concern about the petition “because people stood in front of the school handing out donuts to kids who would sign.” “High school kids will sign a petition for free donuts,” he added. What? They presented a petition with signatures of kids whome they bribed to sign? Donuts to a hig...

Re: A-Rod & Steroids
Good for A-Rod for fessing up! I can accept that much easier than someone like Clemens denying forever when we all know it's true... Agreed. Here's the article from ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3894847 "Overall, I felt a tremendous pressure to play, and play really well&qu...

Re: A-Rod & Steroids
So the most fascinating thing about this whole A-Hole situation (to me at least) is how only his name got released out of the 104 players that tested positive? Don't even try and say that he's on the only star on the list, because we all know that's not true. Petite and Giambi are both probably on t...

Re: Chattanooga Times: Championship Football Game Moved
Actually 12 teams get opening round byes. Presumably the determination will what the bottom 8 teams are, as opposed to the top 12. "Opening round" has 4 games. Presumably with the last 8 teams in. Twelve other teams get byes to the "first round" The winners of the opening round ...

I am kind of a little brain dead here. Could someone please explain how the brackets are going to work out with 20 teams? I have heard the top 4 get 1st round byes and I have heard 8 get 1st round byes and I can't get the brackets to work out. Help..... Actually 12 teams get opening round byes. Pre...

second year in a row that I would have won about $5,000 had the last touchdown not been scored.
Last year wasn't so bad, considering I needed to the Giants to lose in order to win my money (I'm a Giants fan).
This year sucked. Not only did I lose my money, but I also wanted AZ to win.

Re: Obama calls $18B in Wall St. bonuses 'shameful'
To play a little devil's advocate here - some people really did earn it and not paying some of these bonuses would actually hurt some of these wall streat banks more than paying them actually does. There are some really talented people who had some incredible foresight and actually made their respec...

6 Billion for for the purpose of modernizing, renovating, and repairing institution of higher education facilities that are primarily used for instruction, research, or student housing.
I wonder what schools will get some of this!
Too bad it can't be used for football stadiums!

Re: Interesting proposed amendments to the 2009 Stimulus bill
You are incorrect. My homeowners insurance rates just went up in NJ. I called my company (Not my agent, but the underwriting department directly) and they said it went up because they needed to spread the cost of the Houston damage around and because certain states like Florida have limited how muc...

Re: Interesting proposed amendments to the 2009 Stimulus bill
What's the big deal, you're already paying higher insurance premiums because of them? Usually...correct me if I'm wrong here...but usually, those higher rates apply to the state, not across the board...since insurance rate increases usually need state approval... So, if I chose to live in VA, and L...

Re: Albany football infractions
It was a misunderstanding of the rules that was self-reported by the football program. I wonder how many coaches did the exact same thing but didn't self report because they didn't know they were doing anything wrong. And the penalties were self-imposed by the school - not by the NCAA. The NCAA just...

Kudos to St. Francis - at least they are scheduling up.
Its going to be ugly though. Albany was up 21-0 after the first three possessions against St. Francis this year - then it rained 3 inches in an hour and Coach Ford pulled everyone to avoid getting hurt on a muddy field.

Re: Supreme Court: Passenger can be frisked
Not surprising. The issue of traffic stops is one that is constantly being litigated as there are so many open-ended issues that can never be resolved in one case. I tend to agree with this decision. The police need to protect themselves and they are never more vulnerable than during traffic stops. ...

Re: Chattanooga Times: Championship Football Game Moved
The biggest reason why this move is good for FCS is because it preserves the 11 game schedule with a bye week.
Had they not moved the NC game there wouldn't have been any room for a bye week once the playoffs expanded in 2010.

I'm no bible thumper, in fact, I'm pretty much an atheist, but I'm not sure that this is a good thing. I have always had a problem with an employers right to tell an employee how they spend their free time. I think it is an invasion of privacy, and as long as it can't be proven to adversely effect ...

How can NDSU have about 6 or 7 people on that list and yet do as horrible as they did? Some schools turn out great individuals...yet can't do the team thing... Look at how many folks from Hampton are on that list... I was just going to say the same thing. The SWAC consistently has bad teams that pu...
