Re: Draft Daddy "Small School Sleepers"
He's got Justin Tougas (OL) as a prospect from Albany. He would have been had he played this year, but he quit for personal reasons before the season. I doubt a kid from an FCS team that didn't even play his senior year will get a shot in the NFL, but you never know.

Re: FCS School of the Day #3 - Albany
More about football: Head Coach is Bob Ford - the mastermind and only head coach we've ever had. 37th year coming up. Coach Ford is the winningest active coach in FCS and is #3 in all of Division I behind Paterno and Bowden. He finished this season with 234 wins. The man has also produced over 100 h...

Here here! Some more "famous" alum: Steve Berkowitz (Class of ’80) – President and CEO of Ask Jeeves, Inc. Catherine Bertini (Class of ’71) – Under-secretary general for management, United Nations. Danefan - Quite possibly the best looking, smartest, one-year starting QB in the history of ...

Re: Another "The Future of the CAA" Thread
I wonder what the powers that be will do after 2010 when the NEC and PFL get autos. It would be interesting to see the scenarios if the CAA decides to become 2 conferences as they would, even split up, be top conferences right away and one without an auto. Just to clear it up - the NEC and Big Sout...

Re: Another "The Future of the CAA" Thread
I love some of the rivalries we have, but a 14 team conference is just too much IMHO... I agree about the rivalries, but why can't these be maintained with scheduling agreements? Lets look at the biggest rivalries around: Army-Navy-Air Force CiC trophy - no conference affiliation between any of the...

CAA athletic directors to study 14-team puzzle From the Richmond Times Dispatch -- Colonial Athletic Association athletic directors will convene in Washington next week and discuss the league's coming football expansion. In general, the agenda is this question: Can a 14-team football conference wor...

Re: Louisville QB Simms to transfer
There is a 4-2-4 rule that allows you to do that without every sitting out. As opposed to going the route of FBS to FCS and then back to FBS, where you'd have to sit a year when you moved from FCS to FBS. A good presentation: http://www1.ncaa.org/membership/membership_svcs/regional_seminars/2007_Pow...

Not having David McCarty on the list is a joke.
Finished the season with the most rushing yards in the nation (1852) and 2nd in YPG (154.33) and not even making honorable mention is a joke.

Re: 2009 Schedules
Albany right now has two unconfirmed dates: Confirmed is OOC is: Open at Georgia Southern Weed 2 at home against UMass 3 home NEC games 4 away NEC games That leaves 2 OOC games which we were told would be home games. I've heard one more at home against a playoff CAA team and a home game against a Pa...

Re: Will the CAA break up by 2011?
Interestingly enough or maybe just coincidence there is supposed to be a CAA football meeting the first week in January (next week) where the future of the CAA will be discussed. The interesting thing is that after some repeated pressure by Albany alumns and donors we have been promised a public sta...

Re: Gridiron Classic on YES Network at 1:30pm
Agreed. I believe you guys would have given UNI a better game than Maine did. Call it what you like - bowl game, post-season game, classic.....still sucks no matter what. Who knows, but we didn't earn it on the field. The loss to Delaware did us in. Played 2 horrendous quarters of footbal...

Re: Gridiron Classic on YES Network at 1:30pm
as crazy as it sounds, it actually is an official NCAA sanctioned post-season game. Which to me would make it NOT a bowl game. The playoffs are NCAA sanctioned games too....I guess I never looked at any of these post-season "classics" as bowl games.... Call it what you like - bowl game, p...

Re: Gridiron Classic on YES Network at 1:30pm
Oh and BTW, I hate the Gridiron Classic. Nobody cares about it. It gives the seniors another game which is good, but other than that it sucks. FCS is about playoffs....not shitty second rate bowl games. Is this really considered a "bowl" game??? :?: :?: as crazy as it sounds, it actually ...

Re: Gridiron Classic on YES Network at 1:30pm
Well this one was ugly and never really a contest. McCarty destroyed the PFL's best team: 271 yards and 4 TD's on 33 carries. Ends the season as the nation's leading rusher with 1852 rushing yards and 356 receiving. 100+ yards in 11 of 12 games this year and 16 of his last 17 games going back to las...

Just a head's up for those of you no longer posting on AGS. The game is being televised by YES in conjunction wit...
