Re: Big Sky Basketball Thread: 2017-18

Tough loss at the rental house for the Viks, losing to the Griz 92-89. It was truly and exciting and entertaining game. The Griz are tough and good. Viks surely missed Hollins out there. Hopefully he can get better before the ISU game. Griz clearly are the real deal, the best in the conference so far.

Re: Big Sky Basketball Thread: 2017-18

Viks get a big win over Montana State, 93-74. Now they welcome Montana to the "rental home". That should be a good one. The rental home actually looks nicer than the original home, though obviously not as nice as the new home will be. Too bad the game has to be in the afternoon. I'm just ...

Re: Big Sky Basketball Thread: 2017-18

You can do all the fancy passes and awesome dribbling, but if you can't shoot, you won't win too many games. Viks allow a 16-0 run in the second half to go with 7-30 shooting in the second half (and 2-19 from the three point line for the game) and lose at EWU, 81-74. Viks' great non-conference showi...

Re: Big Sky Basketball Thread: 2017-18

Hornets with a huge upset in the Nest against PSU, 80-75 . Strings (POTW lock) put up 34 points on 16/18 from the floor. Hell of a way to start BSC play. Hornets played like PSU during the non-conference, and the Viks played like some of the bigger opponents we've faced so far. Viks jumped o...

Final, 106-81. PSU finishes the non-conference slate 2-1 against the Pac-12 and 3-0 against the WCC.

Re: Big Sky Basketball Thread: 2017-18

Question: Is there something of a BSC-WCC Challenge going on this month? Sac just played cheap-shotting Saint Mary's, while UOP recently played Northern Colorado. Is the same thing going on around the conference? Portland State finishes up their WCC schedule tonight at Santa Clara. They are current...

They're waiting to fire the coach, so they can go on a tear to get him rehired. It worked for the football team.

Re: Big Sky Basketball Thread: 2017-18

Pretty good numbers for North in the loaded PK80. Had he kept his head together in the Duke game, who knows what might have happened. The first half, it didn't look like Duke had an answer for him. The second half, they reminded him who it was he was going up against.

Really not shocked. Stanford lost to EWU earlier this year. They are now 0-2 against the Big Sky with a game against Montana on Wednesday. Viks really thought they could win.

You know last year San Diego knocked Cal Poly out of the playoffs. I'd say that showed they belong in the playoffs, even if they don't offer scholarships.

Re: Thanksgiving Scores

Did anyone really think ESPN and their refs would allow Portland State to beat the #1 team in the land? :ohno: :suspicious: The fact PSU looked really uncomfortable against Duke's zone was the bigger concern. Duke is not primarily a zone team, so when trying to figure out how to stop them from doin...

Well, technically a neutral floor at Memorial Coliseum in Portland, but in the same city. The PK80 tournament to celebrate Nike founder Phil Knight's 80th birthday. Re: Looks Like Bruce Barnum Will Survive

Not surprising when you look at the stats. I'm not hearing anything, but I am thinking special teams coach, Whitworth, will be gone as well. The defense looked great against BYU, then went steadily downhill after that. Special teams was pretty much a joke all season.

Re: Jerome Souers's Semi-Vindication

The Griz beat NAU and NAU went 1-2 in November with a blowout loss. Montana wasn't beaten badly by anyone aside from Washington. That lack of momentum should've kept NAU out. I also thought Sac should've been ahead of NAU despite the H2H loss (and certainly EWU should've been ahead of them). Intere...

Ooof...isn't that the truth. I can't remember BYU being this bad in long time. A loss to UMASS? :ohno: Great season for the Bee Hivers. They both deserve a seed and SUU should be a top 5 seed. Not that either of those two things will happen. Weber will probably not be seeded and SUU will be the 7 o...

State of Montana shut out

With the selection completed in the FCS, the state of Montana did not get a single team in the playoffs, either FCS or the NAIA. Hard to imagine with the Grizzlies seemingly to always be banging on the FCS playoff's door, and Montana Tech now (and Carroll College before) as a mainstay in the NAIA pl...

Well done, WSU and SUU. Good luck in the playoffs. I've always enjoyed bantering with WSU fans. I like the Webers. Admittedly, I don't know any SUU fans other than a high school friend because their kid goes to school there. I saw many SUU fans were in attendance today on plutotv.com. Where are the...
