Re: Portland State LB Passes Away
Condolences to his family, friends and PSU family. It's very tragic. We lost a 20 yr old DT on January 6th of complications from a tracheotomy he had done during the season due to an undisclosed respiratory issue. Very devastating for the team and the University as a whole. I can feel for all of the...

Re: Withers to Texas State
Or it could be Texas State was an average, at best, FCS program and that doesn't translate into wins at the FBS level Unused to have the numbers but I believe Texas State only had 2 playoff appearances and were .500 or lower with pretty strong regularity Granted, that's fairly accurate but, since b...

Re: Withers to Texas State
Outside of The River Walk, San Antonio sucks. As for those Apples and oranges on defense? We were 123 of 127. That's a hell of a lot worse than 77 out of 123. There was exactly 1 FCS team that gave up more ypg than us and only 4 in FBS. That's pathetic. Fran also (reportedly) lost the team in OOC pl...

Re: Withers to Texas State
Now I'll address the Defense issue. JMU is tearing Withers apart for their D. So let's put this in perspective. In FCS they finished 77th in overall D. I didn't do their overall for all of DI but I did ours. So you combine all of DI, that's 250 schools (excluding transitioning schools). If you take ...

Re: Withers to Texas State
It's more likely Withers was 6th or later. Probably true.. There's nothing wrong with swinging for the fences. Having said that, the admin used a lot of smoke and mirrors. If you watched the presser 1) Yes, Applewhite was approached but never interviewed. 2) We also learned Keeler was never approac...

Re: Does a FBS playoff system make FCS FB irrelevant?
While in reality, at the end of the day, the Sun Belt was the highest ranked G5 conference having gone 19-21 OOC and had 7 of their 8 teams being Bowl eligible; even if only 2 went to Bowls due to tie-in issues. :suspicious: Talk about lipstick on a pig. Four of the seven were: LA-M = 6-6 with win ...

Re: Does a FBS playoff system make FCS FB irrelevant?
Sun Belt fans acknowledge this as one of the league's perception issues. The league's issue is reality, not perception. Honest question, what is the biggest win the Sun Belt ever had? Last year the SB went 2-15 vs BCS AQ teams. Two wins were Kentucky and Wake. AppSt will actually help the SunBelt a...

Re: TXST!
I'll come here when it is warranted. It's all we got until the FBS gets it right (true playoffs) and I may not live that long. My point was more that we were so bad in FCS we only had 7 seasons with 6 or more wins and got that in our 2nd FBS year. That's all. This is Other College Sports , no? I did...

Re: TXST!
Easier to be bowl eligible than make the playoffs. Can you tell me how many times in 24 years TXST was in the playoffs; let alone had 6 wins in a season? I'll tell you... 2 and 6 respectively. You don't have to care or give us props but this is yr 2 in FBS and it's an accomplishment for what was a ...

Re: App State and Georgia Southern to join Sun Belt
Ergo: I was not wrong. TXST, unlike the others, accepted in the fall of 2010 and went FCS Indy the following year, playing 12 games and adding 11 scholarships. Once we accepted the SLC "threw us out" but we played SLC teams in that Indy year to fill out their schedule (2011). Last year we ...

Re: App State and Georgia Southern to join Sun Belt
2013 they can add a 12th game and be considered FCS Indy...and the FCS games are considered to help fill in the SoCon schedule. 2014 FBS Indy then full FBS in 2015. Once they announce they have accepted the SBC invite they are not eligible for the playoffs and start the transition. Same as TXST, as ...

OT - TXST player Prayers for family
I know we're no longer FCS but I still feel a part of the board.
We have a FB named Grant Lovelady and his dad was one of the Americans killed in Algeria at the oil facility.
Prayers for the family from the FCS nation appreciated.
(mods can move this at will, if desired)

UTSA was up on schollies but they aren't FBS until 2013. They would still have counted as an FCS loss.

Come on folks. Put a bug in your ADs ears. We're not that good yet and we need some future FCS OOC games. We need some FCS teams to play in San Marcos in the future that aren't from TX or the SLC.

True, and to be accurate they did miss a PAT and had a 2 point conversion to get thereCujo wrote:To be fair, they COULD have scored 7 TDs and missed all the extra points. Using your math logic that is.CatMom wrote:

Stop it! Just Stop! You're starting to sound like NDSU fans. :? The SLC has enough bad reps going for it, please don't add fuel to the fire. Unless you have won the NC recently you don't have room to talk **** with any team until after the game. As for EWU - it was 2 years ago and I would imagine s...

That's pretty bold of you to say but here's the thing: the eagles are on fire right now and the game is in Cheney and the eagles are tough to be at home on that red turf and truth be told Montana State did a hell of a job competing with sam houston for a while and WE ALL KNOW EASTERN WASHINGTON IS ...
