You guys give the Ivy's too much credit.
The Ivy teams of late would be in the exact same place as the PL teams - trouble winning first round games.
Add playoff access and they would get better, but right now Ivy's are no better than PL. I don't understand why people get that impression?

Re: Kiffin tells recruit he’ll end up pumping gas
Coaches say things like this to recruits all the time at all levels. It just doesn't get publicized. That doesn't make it right but, if I were the kid I'd be happy I found out and didn't commit. Coaches put so much effort into recruiting that they feel personally slighted sometimes. It happened to m...

BTW, this poster's recap of the meeting was confirmed by other attendees on AGS.
This could really shake up FCS football, especially in the northeast.

Re: UMass Schedule
The basketball arena is close to University Field, but you cannot see it unless you walk through another building (which is attached to the basketball arena) or around that building. The parking lot closest to the SEFCU Arena borders the practice fields, which do have goalposts. Perhaps you were loo...

Carefull, you make yourself go insane if you constantly watch the ticker. That's the truth. I check it maybe twice a day. Sometimes I'll check it 3. I check my largest 5 holdings about 4 or 5 times a day when I hear the market is going crazy. Its easy to do on Yahoo Finance if you set up an account...

Re: UMass Schedule
Yes, our attendance sucks. But it sucked last year because we didn't have a home game until October. That's likely to happen again this year now that the admins have sold out the fans. We need two things to build our fanbase: a new stadium and a good home schedule. We were on our way to fulfilling ...

With some of the decisions coming out of our Athletic Department lately - I wouldn't be surprised at all if that exchange is exactly what happened. :x Little more information...from umass74's blog I did a little checking about the Albany game being moved to McGuirk. Last year the Great Danes home a...

Re: UMass Schedule
Ridiculous - why our AD agreed to move the game is beyond me. We now go to Georgia Southern and to UMass back to back. We probably won't have a home game in September again this year. Bringing UMass to Albany was a step in the right direction in building a fan base. Not playing home games until Oct...

Re: Obama to cut payments to farms making over $500,000
If a grower is paying more for a bag of corn seed eventually there will be an adjustment in the market, don't you think? You would think, but it doesn't work that way. Suppliers do not set the market price. Having grown up in a farming family (farm has been in family since 1841), I have seen the up...

Re: Obama to cut payments to farms making over $500,000
This is a tough call for me......one of my major clients is a major ag company and they get some huge tax breaks. However, if those were to close they would just jack up the price of their goods sold, which would eventually makes its way down to the customer. Cost of corn would definitely go up. An...

Re: Property Values
I don't know about where you live, but in NJ and NY the assessed value isn't generally anywhere near the market value.
When you say county value, are you referring to the assessed value, used for your property taxes?

The only reason Drake Stadium is so nice is because it hosts the IASHAA state track meet and has the Drake Relays. Check out pictures of their basketball gym...not arena....gym. I've played in nicer high school gyms that that POS Agreed. The same can be said for Penn as well. They only maintain Fra...

Danefan has been the only guy who has ever asked a question that gave me much pause about how good an idea the Fairtax is. I can't remember the question, but it was legit. Just like Wedgie said, this won't get passed by "the powers that be" because they would be voting for themselves to n...

Haha. I grew up with John Nathans and played little league with him on my Dad's team. His father is a prominent attorney in my howntown. He's right to sue, because he was pretty messed up, but the guy was a minor league journeyman that wouldn't have made $200,000 the rest of the his baseball career,...

Come on, guys. They said the same thing 40 years ago when Mouse Davis unveiled the run and shoot. Anytime anyone brings in something new, people say that it's "not football." It was the same when Sid Gilman brought in the seeds of today's West Coast Offense, and it's the same now with the...

If they had no interest in D-I football, they wouldn't be playing football. They are D-I institutions with at least 14 sports. D-III school only need eight. Minimum scholarship requirements have been proposed several times and been rejected each time. As long as they fulfill the NCAA's requirements...

Re: Why doesn't the Pioneer League have an automatic bid?
The Ivy league has the exact same financial aid system that the Pioneer does. There are many kids on Pioneer league schools that receive academic aid, just as the Ivy kids do. Alledgely uses ;) Pioneer is true non-schollie football. Once again, I fail to see the difference. The schools recruit the ...

Re: Why doesn't the Pioneer League have an automatic bid?
Do you feel the same about the Ivy league? IVY league gives out defacto scholarships - and most have made substantial commitments to football. If they wanted in the post season, I would consider it then. Until then, as Jesse would say, the point is moot. The Ivy league has the exact same financial ...
