Billy Cannon Dies

Died on May 18. Ok I know you may have never heard of him but what the heck he was big in Louisiana. Was the 1959 Heisman Trophy winner. Also was the MVP for each of the first two AFL championship games in 1960 and 1961. Had legal issues that got him kicked out of the college football hall of fame b...

Re: Beating Guam Guy At His Own Game

I don't know if "normal" applies but we are indeed well below what the average of believed temperatures over the time since large vertebrates started to thrive on land. Here is a graphic: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ce/47/47/ce47471ed974ac36002e8e3c47bf39d5.gif One could disagree about...

Great program but that's not a good looking shirt. If you're North Dakota State all you need to have a T shirt say is "North Dakota State."

My bet would be that our species would never have evolved if temperatures hadn't cooled. Here is a chart showing global temperature estimates during the Age of Mammals (Cenozoic Era) from an on line textbook at https://opentextbc.ca/geology/chapter/16-1-glacial-periods-in-earths-history/: https://o...

Re: Beating Guam Guy At His Own Game

One could disagree about what's meant by the time during which large vertebrates have lived on land but I would say for sure that was happening during the Permian period and arguably during the Carboniferous period. So you're talking about about 360 to 290 million years ago. And you can see that th...

"What do you say to people who theorize that the Earth as it continues to warm is returning to its normal temperature?" Posey asked. "Look, if you want to characterize a temperature above today's temperature as normal, you're free to do that, but that doesn't mean that's a planet we ...

Re: Beating Guam Guy At His Own Game

Republicans do make themselves look bad in sessions like this. They need to get a statistician to run for office ang get elected, put him on one of these committees, and make him the guy that talks to the scientists whether it's climate change or any other issue. A statistician would be good because...

truthdig. :suspicious: I don't think the DoD has gotten $21 trillion total since it was founded in 1947. I think you've got a point there. The article says the Pentagon spent 21 trillion unaccounted-for dollars between 1998 and 2015. I don't think that much was spent in total discretionary sp...

Re: Blue Wave 2018

Look, let's just hope that the Democrats win a majority in at least one House of Congress so that we can have a real investigation into the obvious corruption associated with the Trump Administration. Yes, it'll be biased the other way. But that's better than the situation is right now. I'm a lot mo...

Military service should be neither necessary or disqualifying. However, saying something like Trump said about McCain being a POW back early during the Republican primaries should be disqualifying. You know, a guy who was not in the military and sought multiple deferments in order to avoid being dra...

Re: Riots in Gaza over opening of embassy in Jerusulem

Yesterday I was hearing stories about something like 60 Palestinians being killed by Israeli live fire but numbers like 1300 and 2000 wounded. I was wondering what was up with that. This morning on NPR I heard an interview with someone with the IDF. He said that they were aiming for protesters' legs...

Re: Will wonders never cease?

Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has praised President Trump for moving our embassy in ISR to Jerusalem! At one point, apparently, Schumer sponsored legislation to do just that. Of course, then he was right back at it, accusing Trump of somehow making PRC great again. SMH.... https:...

Guys, rugby is not going to approach American Football in terms of popularity or revenue generation in our lifetimes. Not even remotely. You're not going to see, for instance, a rugby game approach what the Super Bowl generates in ratings. You're probably not going to see a rugby match approach what...

Re: Kerry Fails Again-Iran Talks Extended-No Agreement In Sight

I think the idea that us pulling out of an agreement the other side has lived up to has no impact on our credibility because it's not a treaty is ridiculous. But the only way we could find out for sure would be to conduct a poll of world leaders and hope they give honest answers. That doesn't mean ...

Well, I've always thought that businesses worrying about people coming in to use their restrooms is a bit much. Like I work in an office building and about a year ago they put combination locks on the first floor restrooms. I think maybe the second floor too. No issue for me because I was given the...
